Landrum Farmers Market is a producer’s market, meaning vendors must produce what they sell. It started back in 2000 in the parking lot of the train depot when Charlie Pace backed his truck up and started selling produce. Over time, the market grew and a more formal organization was formed. Led by Joe Cunningham and Joyce Davis, the market quickly outgrew the parking lot at the depot and moved under the trees on Trade Street. Week by week, the market continued to grow and did so with producers: bread makers, sweet bakers and farmers with a wide variety of produce and farm goods from honey, to figs, to peaches, to fresh ginger.
It was Joe Cunningham who approached Landrum City Officials about the need for a more permanent and seasonal space for the Farmers Market and in 2019 the groundwork was laid for the current Landrum Farmers Market Pavilion. An advisory group was formed and they worked with city officials on the design, style and size of the Pavilion. With over 15,000 square feet under cover, the market can be used as a multi-functional space as well. The summer of 2022 featured Music at the Market with free concerts for the community.
The first market in the Pavilion was on Saturday, May 14, 2022. The inaugural year saw an average of 50 vendors each week drawing big crowds to shop for fresh and local produce, eggs, meats, baked goods, and a limited number of craft vendors.
